Lantau Island is the larges of Hong Kong’s islands, and is the home of the Tian Tan Buddha and Po Lin Monastery. You can hike up to Lantau Peak, but the faster and much more popular way is to take the Ngong Ping 360 cable car. Hot tip – order your ticket in advance, either through the Ngong Ping website or Klook. Even with an advance ticket, the line was long. It’s worth the wait, though. The cable car ride was stunning, especially in the glass bottom car!
I was very surprised to see a bunch of chain restaurants at the peak, though I was happy to see a Starbucks up there. It was a hot day and I was craving a little reminder of home.
