Monkey Temple, also known as Galta Ji, is a massive Hindu temple complex just outside of Jaipur city. Why is it called Monkey Temple? Because of the monkeys who live there of course! I have literally never been as close to monkeys or been surrounded by so many in my entire life. It was a little unnerving when they started fighting with each other, but they generally left people alone.
I could have spent all day at Galta Ji. Sadly, I only had a few hours. There are so many little buildings and hidden details to find! One thing – it may have just been the day that I was there, but I didn’t feel 100% comfortable being there as a solo female traveler. It could just have been that I was one of the few tourists there. Or, it could have been an off day mentally for me, too. But I wanted to mention it just in case…research and make your own decision if you go. If I go back, I’d probably want to have a travel companion with me.
