I wasn’t sure about Los Angeles – my first visit was in 2016. Even though I’ve traveled to many different places, this city seemed so different from anywhere that I’ve been. Fast forward a couple of years to when I decided to go back. This time, I was determined to see Los Angeles in a different light.
NATURE
TOPANGA CANYON
After landing at LAX, I headed straight to Topanga Canyon. The day was sunny with a slight breeze – perfect for a hike. There were only a handful of other people around, so it was a peaceful few hours in nature. Definitely something that I did not experience the last time I visited Los Angeles.
GRIFFITH PARK
The next day, I headed to Griffith Park. There was a public space talk scheduled that evening at Griffith Park Observatory, so I took a little hike beforehand. Wow, was it a hot day! So different from the previous day at Topanga Canyon. Regardless, I hiked up to the Hollywood sign. The hike was longer and steeper than expected, but I still made it to Griffith Park Observatory in plenty of time.
CITY
BRADBURY BUILDING
Oh boy, this place was top on my list to visit. Have I mentioned my love of Blade Runner? I was surprised at how little the building allows visitors to access, but it makes sense – the happiness of tenants is more important that tourist access!
WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL
It’s required for anyone with an interest in photography to go here. I didn’t go during the best light…oh well. It actually wasn’t on my list until I walked by. Something to plan for next time, I suppose.
WALKING AROUND
And of course, I did a lot of wandering. So, what do I think of Los Angeles now? For me, it’s still so different than anywhere else but I like it. Hopefully I’ll be back again someday.
