Many times, places don’t look the same as how they’re depicted on social media. Burano is not most places. Colorful houses line stone walkways and peaceful canals. Pretty flowers sit in windowsills as fabric shades lazily blow in the breeze. Burano turned out to be everything and more than what I was expecting.
Hot tip – if you go, consider spending a night here. I did not and had to work to get photos without a ton of people in them. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be to wander the island at dawn, dusk and after dark.
